Kathmandu, March 6: The government has started undertaking a study on the unfolding impacts of global menace of coronavirus (COVID-19) on the country’s economy. Minister for Finance Dr. Yubaraj Khatiwada shared that his ministry and Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) have started to conduct the study to this effect.
As the global economy is being bedeviled by the spread of the deadly disease of coronavirus, it has also been hampering the efforts made towards the growth of the Nepalese economy. For instance, the Visit Nepal Year-2020, the mega tourism campaign launched by the country to ultimately bolster the economic growth, is at stake (due to low tourist arrivals) He clarified that the government would move ahead by studying the short-term and long-term effects of coronavirus on the economy.
On another note, the minister said a competitive bidding process would be adopted while purchasing the security printing press. ” We will soon take the necessary decision in this regard”, he noted.
