Kathmandu, October 11: The House of Representative committee on industry, labour and consumers’ welfare has directed the government to immediately fix the price of sugar.
The committee meeting held in Singha Durbar on Thursday asked the government to conduct monitoring of the sugar depots before banning the import of the sugar. If the sugar is stored illegally, the traders need to be taken action, the committee underscored.
Similarly, the government’s attention was drawn why the sugarcane farmers were not paid by the sugar mills. The government is urged to provide the factual details on the payment to farmers and the dues. Even the details on Janakpur Cigarette Factory and its physical infrastructures including the land have been demanded.
The government is also directed to mull on various other issues as modern mechanism to determine the princes of essential goods and e-billing.
The skyrocketing price hike in the wake of the festivals must be curbed, the committee stressed.
Similarly, the concerned ministry has been directed to conduct monitoring of the essentials in the festival as meat and its sales and distribution.
Regular supply of the daily essential is imperative, the committee asserted. RSS
