Kathmandu, November 2 : The government has identified 100 ‘new’ tourism destinations with an announcement to launch a special plan in order to promote tourism activities there from the upcoming fiscal year.
Planned programmes would be formulated and implemented for tourism promotion also in the context of 2020 being marked as the Visit Nepal Year, according to the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation.
The newly identified places were selected on the basis of recommendations collected from local and provincial governments in addition to the Nepal Tourism Board.
According to the ministry officials, every province will have at least 10 new tourist destinations.
Now, in order to promote the selected destinations, the government plans to mobilise private agencies and locals in a collaborative and coordinated way. It even has a plan to speed up the reconstruction of quake-damaged heritage sites, promotion of home stay and religious sites, and tourism publicity in the neighbouring countries India and China.
