Kathmandu, August 23 : The government has spent a total of Rs 13.37 billion in order to counter the coronavirus pandemic in the last five months, according to the latest spending statistics released by the government.
As of mid- August, the federal government alone spent Rs 6.18, out of which Rs 1.37 billion was used from the COVID-19 Fund.
Ministry of Defense spent Rs 2.37 billion, Ministry of Health and Population Rs 2.17 billion, and Ministry of Urban Development Rs 1.29 billion for controlling the pandemic. Similarly, Ministry of Home Affairs made the expenditure of Rs 208. 3 million, Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Rs 44.9 million and Ministry of Foreign Affairs Rs 650,000 for the same.
When it comes to the expenditure headings, the government spent Rs 2.93 billion on health infrastructure, Rs 1.75 billion on medical goods, Rs 57.4 million on human resource mobilization, Rs 46.9 million on quarantines and Rs 12.4 million on others.
The seven provincial governments shell out a total of Rs 1.5 billion to fight against coronavirus. Among them, Sudur Paschim spent the largest amount of money at Rs 429.8 million, while Bagmati province spent the lowest at Rs 136.7 million.
