April 24 : The Hotel Association of Nepal (HAN) has projected that the gross income of the country’s hotel industry may plummet by a shocking 90 percent in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent national lockdown. It came up with such a projection in s press communique released today.
The HAN also requested the government to immediately adopt special policy measures to prevent the hotel industry from further sliding into the worse condition. Such policy measures, according to the release, could well be adopted by considering the various vital aspects like human resources, bank loans, house rents and power tariffs related to the hotels.
Expressing solidarity for the government’s initiatives for the prevention and control of COVID-19 pandemic, HAN also urged for assessing the pandemic’s impacts on the Nepali economy as a whole and taking steps to mitigate them.
