Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has selected an Indian company to supply 430 million units of Nepali currency in the denomination of Rs 1,000.
In this regard, Nepal’s central bank on Wednesday forwarded a letter of intent to M/S Security Printing and Minting Corporation of India Limited, India. According to NRB, it has awarded the contract to the Indian company based on the lowest bid amount. The company has agreed to supply the aforementioned quantity of Nepali notes at the cost of US $11,134,506.
The company has been contracted for execution of the procurement of designing, printing, supply and delivery of 430 million pieces of Nepali rupees. According to NRB, it has selected the Indian company out of four companies that participated in the bidding.
Casa da Moeda do Brasil, Brazil; China Banknote Printing and Minting Corporation, China and Oberthur Fiduciaire SAS, France were among the other contending firms.
