Kathmandu, June 5 : Indonesia Boutique Fair has commenced in the central capital. Ambassador of Indonesia to Nepal, Rina P Soemarmo and honorary consul of Indonesia to Nepal, Chandra Prasad Dhakal jointly inaugurated the fair at Hotel Annapurna in Kathmandu on Thursday (June 4).
The Indonesia Boutique Fair is organized by the Embassy of Indonesia and the Office of the Honorary Consul. On the occasion, ambassador Soemarmo talked about the cordial relations between Indonesia and Nepal, saying that Indonesia is Nepal’s well-wisher and that both countries have good ties in many areas including religious and cultural. Indonesia’s honorary consul for Nepal, Dhakal said lately Indonesia, especially the Bali Island, has become an attraction for Nepali visitors.
He said that programmes of cultural exchanges like this event have been continued since some years to familiarize the peoples of the two countries about their cultural commonalities and to attract visitors from one country to the other. Dhakal added that there has been a significant increase in the number of tourists visiting each other’s countries of late, which would help increase Indonesian investment in Nepal in the coming days.
A variety of cultural programmes depicting Indonesian art and customs were presented in the inauguration programme. A fashion show of the clothes manufactured by Indonesian boutiques was also organized. The fair features designer clothes and apparels manufactured by Indonesian boutiques, IME Group, the co-organizer of the event, stated. Boutique garment lovers, the Indonesian diaspora here and travel agencies from Nepal and Indonesia are participating in the boutique fair.
