The Office of Standards and Metrology, Birgunj, has filed a case against two industries operating in Chitwan district in the current financial year.

It is said that the case was filed against industries after it was found that the weighing machine was being used without obtaining a permit. According to the office, the case has been filed against Khajuri Biscuits Nepal Pvt Ltd and Yak Vivrig Company located in Chitwan, the head of the office Manish Kumar Das said.

In addition, the office has taken action and fined 973 commercial and industrial establishments that did not renew or failed to renew weighing machines from July to February of the current year.

During that period, the office also provided new weighing licenses to 391 commercial and industrial establishments, as well as renewed the weighing equipment of 814 commercial and industrial establishments and granted weighing equipment licenses to a total of 2132 commercial and industrial establishments, according to the office.

Chief Das gave this information during the monitoring of industrial and commercial establishments in Hetauda today, which has five district jurisdictions namely Rautahat, Bara, Parsa, Makwanpur and Chitwan.

Das said that in the information available from July 2022 to February 2023 of the current year, the office conducted 24 single monitoring and 22 joint monitoring. Similarly, it is said that during that period, the office also checked 604 pump nozzles and 306 tanker vehicles.
