Insurance companies in Nepal have received claims totaling more than Rs 23.22 billion for property and other damages caused during the recent Gen Z protests.
According to the Nepal Insurance Authority (NIA), a total of 3,099 insurance claims had been filed as of Wednesday. These claims include records from 14 non-life insurance companies and four micro non-life insurers.
So far, insurance companies have settled claims worth Rs 1.29 billion. To assess the extent of the damages, insurers have deployed 2,706 surveyors, who are responsible for preparing damage assessment reports. Out of these, 374 survey reports have already been submitted to the concerned insurance companies.
