According to the MIS report of Nepal Telecommunication Authority (NTA), the number of internet users decreased in mid-May compared to mid-April.

In mid-April, there were a total of 26,73,471 customers of various service providers including wireless, cable and fiber.

In mid-May, this number was reduced to 26,47,379.

Worldlink’s customers have declined the most. The number of users of Worldlink was 771,000, but it was reduced to 752,000 in mid-April.

In mid-May, the number of mobile phone users was 33,837,513.

This is also because the license of Smart Telecom has been canceled. Earlier, 2.4 million people were using mobile phones with this SIM.

Similarly, the use of SIM cards of Nepal Telecom (NTC) and Ncell also decreased by more than 210,000.

In mid-May, the number of mobile phone holders using SIM cards decreased by 192,853 and reached 20,364,717. The number of CDMA and GSM SIM users of Nepal Telecom was 21,171,864 in mid-April.

The number of mobile phone holders using Ncell SIM has decreased by 17,382 and has reached 13,472,796.

The number of mobile and internet users has decreased by a huge margin within a month mainly due to the economic recession and increasing migration of young people abroad.
