Kathmandu, January 10 : Independent Power Producers’ Association of Nepal (IPPAN) has said that it is the final stage to hold Himalayan Hydro Expo 2019 from 18 to 20 January in Bhrikuti Mandap, Kathmandu.
Organising a press conference here today,the Association made such announcement.
Vice President of Nepal Nanda Bahadur Pun is slated to inaugurate the expo, which is expected to attract more than 1,00,000 visitors.
National Planning Commission and Ministry of Energy Water Resources and Irrigation have provided patronage
to the event. It is being co-sponsored by International Finance Corporation (IFC). Premier Insurance, Hotel Himalaya, Asian Paints, Restrology, Vianet, and Nepal Shipping and Air Logistic Private Limite are the official
partners of the event, which will be managed by Expo and Event Solution Pvt. Ltd
Exhibitors include almost all stake holders of hydropower sector in Nepal including engineering
firms, machinery manufacturers, equipment suppliers, technology service providers,
Contractors, Banks, Insurance companies, construction material suppliers, heavy machinery
and vehicle brands.
The Himalayan Hydro Expo will showcase stalls from hydropower developers, associated technology manufactures and suppliers, investors, insurance companies, banks, and construction companies spanning across Nepal, India, China, Bulgaria, Austria, Germany, South Korea, Sweden and England.
The products to be displayed include electro mechanical, hydro mechanical, control, protection and data supervisory system, construction equipment, solar modules, electric vehicles, tunneling equipment from
prominent institutions like VOITH, Epicrock Mining India, WEG Industries India Pvt. Ltd,
APE Power, GEPPERT Hydropower, Toshiba Corporation, DEC Dongfeng Electric
Machinery Co., Ltd and others.
According to the organizers, the Expo will also host various competitions for engineering students and eightparticipants from various engineering colleges are competing for the coveted first place. Besides, this year, this year we are featuring RoboCompetition for the first time in which over 32 groups have already been enlisted to showcase robotics innovation and usage.
Another major attraction of the event is short helicopter rides to Dordi Corridor, Upper Marshyandi and Solu Corridor where numerous hydropower projects are in construction and few are already in operation wherein interested participants get a real feel of hydropower development that is going on in the country.
During the expo,a technical and knowledge sharing session on the topics on domestic
financing, hedging foreign currency risk, renewable energy, environment and social
management, innovation in hydropower industry, tunneling, and insurance will also held. More than 35
expert speakers will share their knowledge and experience for the benefit of public at large.
At the session, the organisers are also planning to launch the first version of Hydro Map (a computer application) intended to serve as a hydro database for all stakeholders which is jointly developed by IPPAN, Niti Foundation, and The Asia Foundation.
The expo will also feature other renewable energy initiatives in Solar PV system, wind energy potential and showcase of electric cars as substitute to the fossil fuel cars.
