December 4: Jhamsikhel Youth Club is organizing the “4th Jhamsikhel Street Festival 2019” on December 7, Saturday, to mark the start of Visit Nepal 2020, a government campaign to bring in two million tourists in 2020. Organizing a press meet at Jhamsikhel yesterday, Spokesperson of the club Kaushal Ghimire said it would be the fourth time that the club was organizing the street festival.

The festival would be inaugurated by Minister of Home Affairs Ram Bahadur Thapa. “We have been organizing street festival once every four years. We did it in 2008, 2012, and 2016, and now we are organizing it in 2019”, Ghimire said adding that the timing of this festival was significant as it was being held on the eve of Visit Nepal 2020.

According to the organizers, the street festival would have many attractions including Rock concert featuring Mukti and Revival, Anuprastha, Cobweb and Robin and the New Revolution. “The festival would also feature Lok Dohori singers including Member of National Assembly (NA) Komal Oli, Prakash Saput and team, and Prag Purna Nepali. There would also be standup comedy performances by artists like Raja Rajendra, Purna Thapa, Ravi Dangol, Surendra K.C., and Shiva Shankar Rijal”, Ghimire said. The organizers have said that the streets of Jhamsikhel would have food, handicraft, and face painting stalls along with bingo and carnival games for the children.

Ghimire said that the club would be hoisting flags of various countries to promote Visit Nepal 2020 during the festival and the festival would be made plastic-free as part of the club’s Green Initiative. RSS
