Kathmandu valley sees 28 new coronavirus cases

Kathmandu, July 7 : The Ministry of Health and Population has confirmed 28 new cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours in the Kathmandu valley. At a regular press briefing today, Ministry’s Spokesperson Dr Jageshwor Gautam said that the new infected people are 14 from Kathmandu, 10 from Lalitpur and four from Bhaktapur districts.

According to Dr Gautam, Bajura of the Sudur Paschim district witnessed the highest number of cases with 54 in the past 24 hours. Aacham and Baitadi saw equal 11 cases of coronavirus while Mahottari witnessed nine new cases and Dhanusha and Arghakhanchi districts have eight equal cases of the virus in the past 24 hours.

Likewise, seven people were tested positive to the virus in Doti, six each in Morang and Dadeldhura, five each in Salyan, Rukum West and Nawalparasi, three each in Saptari, Sunsari, Dang, Surkhet and Gorkha districts. Tanahun, Palpa and Bardiya added equal two cases of the coronavirus infection while one each case was reported in Jhapa, Sindhuli, Sindhupalchowk, Dhading, Kaski, Lamjung, Nuwakot, Parsa, Ramechhap, Rupandehi, Saptari, Rukum East, Baglung and Kapilvastu districts.

Dr Gautam shared that a total of 204 people tested positive to the virus out of 6,113 PCR tests in the past 24 hours across the country. With this, the number of coronavirus infected has reached 16,168 in the country. —
