“Certain elements are making furtive attempts to weaken me,” says Ghising

Kathmandu, April 9 : Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) Managing Director Kulman Ghising has said that certain elements, who were responsible for pushing the country into the darkness of prolonged load-shedding, are making furtive attempts to weaken him.

Speaking at a press meet held in the capital on Monday (April 8), he emotionally stated, “The current NEA management has been working tirelessly to ensure effective service delivery. However, a group of people are indulged in spreading hollow rumours against the Authority and me.”

Ruling out the allegations that he received more than Rs 6 million as bonus, Ghising revealed,” I have got just Rs 200 thousand as an incentive pay from the government based on my performance.”

Before Kulman Ghising assuming office in 2016, the NEA was reeling under a loss of around Rs 9 billion a year. But, under his efficacious leadership, the loss-making power utility has posted a remarkable profit in Fiscal Year 2017/18.
