Lawmakers ask govt to provide free electricity to poor

June 8 : Lawmakers have stressed the need for increasing investment in the electricity generation and provide power for free to the poor people. Taking part in the deliberations on the Appropriation Bill 2077 at the meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) yesterday, they asked the government ti do so.

Ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) lawmaker Pampha Bhusal said that providing electricity for free to poor and under privileged community as per the ruling NCP’s election manifesto is mandatory. She also suggested the government to review the tax policy on e-vehicles.

Similarly, lawmaker Birodh Khatiwada opined that the approving the bills seeking for legalising marijuana farming in the country is very important. Khatiwada also suggested the government for updating border pillars.

Also taking part in the deliberation, lawmakers Brijesh Kumar Gupta and Prabhu Sah focused on increasing budget in infrastructure sector. Lawmaker Chhabilal Bishwakarma opined to take stern actions against those involved in Soti Rukum incident. He also asked to manage safety measures and extra allowances to health workers and security personnel. Nepali Congress lawmaker Dr Minendra Rijal called for making effective policy and programmes to combating the coronavirus outbreak. NC lawmaker Pradeep Giri stressed on making effective diplomatic exercises and trimming the size of Nepal’s diplomatic missions abroad.
