District administration offices of all three districts in the Kathmandu Valley-Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur- are set to carry out market monitoring activities soon targeting the upcoming festivals.
Chief District Officer of Kathmandu ,Janak Raj Dahal, made public this information at an interaction held here in the capital on Friday (September 25). In this regard, a monitoring committee involving the chief district officers of all the three districts of the valley has been formed, he said.
Each CDO will divide his/her responsibility to monitor the selling of different items in the markets during the upcoming festivals like Dashain, Tihar and Chhatha. To this effect, four separate teams have been mobilised, said Director General of the Department of Commerce Supplies and Consumers Protection Netra Prasad Subedi.
Speaking on the same occasion. Executive Director of the Nepal Oil Corporation, Surendra Poudel, said that the enough stocks of petroleum products and cooking gas have been kept so that people would not face shortage during the festivals.
Similarly, Manager of the Salt Trading Corporation, Brajesh Jha ,said fair price shops would open on the eve of the festivals. Now, the Corporation has 800 metric tonnes of sugar. Additional 20,000 metric tonnes of sugar would be supplied considering the festivals, he said.
Likewise, Senior Superintendent of the Nepal Police, Shyam Lal Gyawali, said anyone promoting black marketing in the festivals would face legal action.
