According to Senior Agricultural Extension Officer Roshan Kumar Mehta, the province produced 205,251 metric tons more paddy this year. Mehta attributed this growth to timely rainfall during and after the sowing period, as well as the timely availability of fertilizers and seeds. Additionally, paddy cultivation expanded by 5,200 hectares compared to the previous year.

The average yield also improved, rising from 3.50 metric tons per hectare last year to four metric tons per hectare this year. Among the districts, Saptari recorded the highest production with 261,120 metric tons, followed by Siraha (209,520 metric tons), Parsa (184,749 metric tons), Sarlahi (182,160 metric tons), Bara (180,300 metric tons), Mahottari (167,770 metric tons), Dhanusha (166,260 metric tons), and Rautahat, which produced the least with 150,480 metric tons.

Meanwhile, the Food Management and Trading Company Limited has announced the commencement of the paddy procurement process, marking an important step in managing this year’s harvest.
