Malaysia-bound job with zero cost and social security assured

Kathmandu, September 16: The Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security has clarified the Malaysia-bound job has been made regular in line with the spirit of the pact signed between Nepal and Malaysia. Issuing a press release, the Ministry has noted that employment has been guaranteed in Malaysia by upholding the letter and spirit of bilateral Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the same.

A joint task force comprising representatives from both the countries held a meeting on September 10-11 in Malaysia to finalize the technical backlogs following the signing of the pact. The meeting gave a breakthrough in connection with Malaysia-based employment for Nepali worker which was not smooth after a long time following the signing of MoU.

According to the ministry, a conclusion was drawn to formally take ahead the implementation of the MoU keeping the discussion on remaining issues related to labor pact. Acting on the agreement, the Malaysian government had sent the standards of health institutions to undertake health tests of the workers abound to Malaysia.

The Ministry had publicly solicited call of expression from the interested health institutions meeting the criteria set by the Malaysian government for the stipulated health services. A team comprising specialists of health ministry had monitored the health institutions who submitted applications for the service and finalized and sent the names of 122 health institutions to the Malaysian government.

According to the MoU on zero cost and social security guarantee, the Nepali workers do not need to pay service charge, round trip airfare, visa fee, medical examination cost, and security screening cost. RSS
