Mashreq Bank supports a School in Lalitpur

Kathmandu, March 24: Mashreq Bank, the largest bank of UAE, having its head office in Dubai, donated computer, laptop, projector, 3-in-1 printer, and internet connection to Shree Krishna Basic School, Kitachaur, Bistachap of Lalitpur district under the bank’s CSR Program through its Future Generations initiatives.

The bank also donated school shoes (2 pairs), school dresses (2 sets) including educational materials to all the students of the school from grade 1 to grade 8 for one year. The donation worth around NRS 10 lakh was handed over by the Chief Country Representative of Mashreq Bank Hema Kumari Adhikari to the Principal of the school amid a function organized in the school yesterday.

Addressing the ceremony, Mashreq Bank Country Representative Adhikari stated that from the very beginning, Mashreq has taken initiatives in making contributions in Nepal when there is a need.

The bank has reached out and touched the lives of numerous individuals in the country where the bank has its presence and successfully contributed for positive changes in lives, lifestyles, and livelihoods of many people through its CSR initiatives in UAE and other countries including Nepal, India, and Pakistan.

The bank has its presence in countries in Asia, Europe, America, and Africa, and the bank has a registered Representative office in Nepal since October 2010 providing International Banking services to the business communities, commercial banks and Central bank of Nepal for over a decade.

She mentioned that Mashreq bank’s CSR strategy leans towards community development through support in the education of the younger generation. We have launched a CSR program called “Mashreq Future Generations” for children education through which the Bank sponsors the cost of education of the children for a year in Nepal, India, and Pakistan. She said that support to the school was a part of the bank’s CSR program.

She expressed her expectation that the equipment made available to the school will be helpful to teachers in keeping themselves updated with the modern technologies, educational materials and teaching methods so that they will be more efficient and can give better education to their students. Likewise, the school dresses, shoes and educational materials provided to the students will be helpful to reduce the students’ drop-out rates and increase the number of students’ admission in the school.

Concluding her speech, she mentioned that children are future stars of the country. The support to the school and parents of the students provided is a gesture in making possible the dreams of the students and become an educated lot of citizens of the country later on. She also recalled that Mashreq employees in Dubai collected NPR 3 million when Nepal was devastated by the mega earthquake in 2015 and the contribution was handed-over to the then prime minister and added that Mashreq is always a supporter of Nepal’s progress and keen to help Nepal and Nepali through the ways and means possible.

Speakers at the ceremony, including member of Federal Parliament of Nepal Mr. Navaraj Silwal (Chief Guest of the event), member of federal parliament of province 3 Mrs. Lal Kumari Pun (special guest of the event), Mayor of Godavari Municipality Gajendra Maharjan, Country Director of Educate the Children Nepal Mira Maiya Singh Rana, appreciated the support extended by Mashreq Bank to the school and requested them to continue such supports in the future, too. They also expressed their commitment to helping the school in the ways possible. The ceremony was presided over by the chairman of the school management committee Mr. Narendra Bahadur Bista.
