Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) has formed a sub-committee to forward a plan to procure two aircraft.
The national flag carrier has brought this plan for purchasing two aircraft to operate flights in urban destinations to increase air connectivity at the provincial level, it is said.
A meeting of the NAC Board of Directors on May 9 formed a nine-member sub-committee headed by Senior Captain Sudhir Samsher Rai for this purpose. The sub-committee has started its work with the goal of submitting a report within 21 days.
“NAC has not been able to operate flights to the urban and commercially viable areas at present due to the shortage of aircraft to fly to airports in the urban areas. We can operate provincial flights from Kathmandu, Biratnagar, Bhairahawa, Pokhara, Nepalgunj, and Dhangadhi, among other cities,” reads a NAC press release.
