Kathmandu, July 30: Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC), which is all set to operate regular flights to Osaka, Japan from August 29, has come up with a promotional airfare for the same.
Under this promotional scheme meant for marketing purpose, the charge for one-way ticket for flying to Japan is fixed at Rs 36,999 while the same for round-trip amounts to Rs 72,814, including value-added tax.
Earlier, the ticket price for Osaka was set at Rs 45,000 for one-way and Rs 77,000 for a round-trip.
The newly announced airfare for the Kathmandu-Osaka route is being offered till the festival of Dashain this year and after that, it will be again increased.
The national flag carrier is preparing to operate Osaka flights three days a week — Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. It takes around six-and-a-half hours to reach Osaka from Kathmandu. Nepali students studying in Japan and Japanese tourists traveling to Nepal are the targeted passengers of NAC in the Kathmandu-Osaka route.
Previously, NAC had operated commercial flights in Kathmandu-Osaka route twice a week in between 1994 and 2007. However, owing to a lack of aircraft and human resources, the service had been halted.
