The second nationwide economic survey has commenced today, with the National Statistics Office (NSO) confirming that enumerators and supervisors have already been deployed to their assigned areas.
The survey is scheduled to run until the third week of June, with nearly 5,000 personnel mobilized for data collection across the country.
The Ministry of Finance has urged the public to cooperate, as the survey aims to gather comprehensive data on the country’s industrial and business landscape.
According to officials, the survey will cover 18 sectors of the economy, collecting key information on industries, enterprises, service providers, cooperatives, and both private and public entities. It will also document details related to types of businesses, employment, production, and service delivery.
All types of business entities—large and small, registered and unregistered—will be included in the enumeration, along with employment data. The survey will also cover non-governmental organizations, public corporations, as well as government and private schools and hospitals.
To facilitate the process, survey offices have been set up in all 77 districts and seven additional locations. These offices will remain operational until mid-July, officials said.
The NSO has called on all stakeholders to support the initiative to ensure accurate and reliable data collection. The last economic survey, conducted seven years ago, recorded more than 923,000 institutions and industrial entities across Nepal.
