In a major move to strengthen and expand its 4G network, Ncell has brought 20 new mobile towers into operation across various regions over the past 10 days, significantly improving voice quality and high-speed data services for customers.
According to a statement issued on Wednesday, the telecom operator has been installing new towers as part of its ongoing efforts to widen coverage and enhance network quality—primarily in Madhesh Province, with additional expansions in Bagmati and Koshi Provinces.
With the Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA) resuming facilitation, Ncell accelerated its tower deployment even during the festive season, successfully activating 20 new sites in record time. These upgrades ensure stronger signals and faster 4G connectivity in the respective communities.
In Madhesh Province alone, 13 new towers have been installed in Parwanipur (Bara); Pokharia, Pakahamainpur, and Birgunj (Parsa); Balan Bihul (Saptari); Janakpur, Kataiya, Kamala, and Bideha (Dhanusha); Kaudena and Motipur (Sarlahi); and Yamunamai and Madhav Narayan (Rautahat).
Koshi Province received six new operational sites across Inaruwa, Barju, Harinagar, and Gadhi (Sunsari), along with Babiyabirta and Majhare (Morang). One tower has also been activated in Hetauda (Makawanpur) in Bagmati Province.
Upanga Dutta, Chief Consumer Business Officer at Ncell, said, “We are expanding and enhancing our 4G network in line with our commitment to improving digital connectivity across Nepal. Ncell has successfully brought 20 new towers online in less than 10 days. Within the next two days, we plan to activate 10 more towers to better serve our customers.”
Despite earlier restrictions on importing new equipment, Ncell continued upgrading its network by installing and operating more than 40 towers nationwide using existing and spare equipment.
As part of its ongoing 4G expansion plan, the company aims to roll out over 170 additional towers across all provinces in the next two months—further strengthening network access and improving quality of service (QoS) for users across Nepal.
Since launching its 4G service in May 2017, Ncell has provided high-quality connectivity nationwide. The service now covers all 77 districts and reaches more than 95 percent of Nepal’s population.
