The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has agreed to reconnect electricity supply lines to industries that had previously defaulted on their dues, following a directive from the Council of Ministers. This decision was made during a board meeting held on Tuesday.
Until now, the NEA had refused to restore power to these industries due to unpaid dues related to dedicated feeders and trunk lines. However, the power utility shifted its position after receiving instructions from the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation (MoEWRI). The ministry sent a letter to the NEA, urging it to comply with the government’s directive to restore electricity supplies within 24 hours.
Suresh Acharya, the secretary of MoEWRI, confirmed that the NEA’s board had made the decision to reconnect the power lines during the meeting on Tuesday.
