The Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) has started the groundwork to operate international flights from Bhairahawa-based Gautam Buddha International Airport.
Nepal Airlines has started the groundwork as part of its preparation for international flights to Malaysia and Qatar from the airport.
NAC Spokesperson Archana Khadka shared that the Corporation has put forth its process to get permission for flights to Malaysia and Qatar and for overflying through other countries including India, Burma, Bangladesh and Thailand.
According to her, NAC would make its flights to both countries from Kathmandu first and land in Kathmandu via Bhairahawa while returning.
NAC Chair Yubaraj Adhikari shared the NAC has placed a plan to make a flight to Malaysia and two flights to Qatar in a week. He further shared the number of flights can be increased on demand in the coming days.
NAC would make a touchdown flight at the Bhairahawa-based airport on December 19 and begin commercial flights to the two destinations.
Currently, Kuwait’s Jazeera Airways and Nepal’s Himalaya Airlines have started commercial flights from the Bhairahawa-based international airport.
