Both narrow-body aircraft of Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) have resumed operations following successful engine repairs.
According to NAC, the technical problems in aircraft registered 9N-AKW and 9N-AKX have been fixed. The 9N-AKX aircraft was cleared for operation on Sunday, while the other aircraft had already rejoined service earlier.
The 9N-AKX had remained grounded since 20 Shrawan due to gearbox issues inside its engine, while the second narrow-body was unexpectedly grounded on the night of August 20.
Repairing the engine took nearly two years, with the aircraft now operating on leased engines. NAC had sent one of its engines for overhaul to Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) on December 1, 2023.
This restoration is expected to improve NAC’s flight capacity and service reliability.
