In the first eight months of the current fiscal year 2081/82 (2024/25), Nepal imported smartphones worth nearly Rs 22 billion.
According to the Department of Customs, a total of 1,407,078 smartphones valued at Rs 21.91 billion were brought into the country during this period, generating Rs 4.08 billion in government revenue.
By mid-March, Nepal had also imported 1,609,097 other mobile phones and wireless communication devices worth Rs 1.52 billion, contributing an additional Rs 283.80 million in revenue.
