The agitation announced by the Nepal LP Gas Industry Association, set to take effect from Thursday, has been put off.
The Association decided to postpone its protest after an agreement was reached between the office bearers of the Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) Board, staff, and Association representatives to address its genuine demands.
Minister for Industry and Supplies, Damodar Bhandari, had urged NOC officials and the Association to engage in dialogue to resolve the issue. He assured that the Association’s legitimate concerns would be addressed.
The Association had announced the agitation, citing various demands, including a long-pending price adjustment from six years ago.
Earlier, the Ministry had formed a committee led by Rajan Poudel, Director General of the Department of Commerce, Supplies, and Consumer Protection, to investigate the matter.
NOC Spokesperson Manoj Kumar Thakur stated that the agitation has been deferred for 15 days, as further time is needed to review the committee’s report.
