Kathmandu, December 16: The Nepal Medical Expo-2019 has concluded at Bhrikuti Mandap in the capital on Sunday (Dec 15).The three-day expo was jointly organized by India-based SD Promo Media and Chemical and the Medical Supplier Association of Nepal (CHEMSAN).
More than 220 companies from seven countries-Nepal, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, China, Japan, and Germany- took part in the expo. They showcased the instruments and equipment related to diagnostics, hospitech, and chemicals.
Some 10,000 people pertaining to various health-related areas like hospitals, pharmacies, labs, etc visited the expo. Inaugurating the expo, Bhanu Bhakta Dhakal, Minister for Health, said that this kind of event would help enhance the image of the Nepali health sector in the international sector.
Speaking on the same occasion, Suresh Ghimire, President, CHEMSAN, urged the government to provide VAT- free facilities and reduce the customs duty (which is currently levied between 5 to 30 percent) on the imports of medical equipment like MRI and CT Scan. “This will go a long way in providing less costly and easy health services to the general people.”
According to the organizers, the Nepal Medical Expo-2019 proved a viable platform to help bolster the country’s healthcare and laboratory industry.
