The Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has announced changes in fuel prices, which came into effect from Sunday midnight. This adjustment sees an increase in the price of petrol, while the prices of diesel and kerosene have been reduced.

According to the revised rates, the price of petrol has risen by Rs 2 per liter. In the new pricing structure, petrol will now be sold at Rs 159.50 per liter in the first category, Rs 161 per liter in the second category, and Rs 162 per liter in the third category. This variation in pricing across categories is based on regional classifications, which take into account factors like transportation costs and logistical considerations.

On the other hand, diesel and kerosene prices have both been reduced by Rs 2 per liter. After the revision, these fuels will now cost Rs 148.50 per liter in the first category, Rs 150 per liter in the second category, and Rs 151 per liter in the third category. This reduction is expected to provide some relief to consumers and businesses that rely heavily on diesel and kerosene for transportation and other purposes.

The decision to adjust fuel prices reflects NOC’s ongoing efforts to align domestic prices with international oil market trends, as well as to manage operational costs and maintain financial stability. The changes are likely to impact households and businesses differently, with the increase in petrol prices potentially raising transportation costs for private vehicle owners, while the reduction in diesel and kerosene prices could benefit sectors like agriculture, freight, and public transportation.
