Nepal has urged India to accelerate major hydropower projects, expand electricity exports and increase private-sector investment in the energy sector. Energy Minister Biraj Bhakta Shrestha raised the issues during a meeting with visiting Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri on Wednesday.
Nepal highlighted projects including West Seti, Seti River-6 and Phukot Karnali, while calling for stronger cross-border transmission infrastructure and access to third-country electricity markets through India. The two sides also discussed cross-border disaster early warning systems and broader regional energy connectivity.
