Kathmandu – Nepalis earned more than Rs 3.53 billion in the last fiscal year (2024/25) by creating and posting videos on platforms such as YouTube, TikTok, and Facebook, according to data from Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB).
The central bank noted that the number of digital content creators has been steadily rising, with many generating income in the range of tens of thousands of rupees through social media video production. For the first time, NRB has formally begun keeping records of such earnings.
Meanwhile, Nepalis also paid Rs 789 million abroad for audio and video services provided by foreign creators and companies, highlighting the growing two-way flow of the country’s digital economy.
