Nepal’s export of Information Technology (IT) goods and services is steadily increasing. In the first six months of the current Fiscal Year 2024/25, the country exported IT-related goods and services worth over Rs 28.5 billion.
According to data from Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), IT goods and services worth over Rs 3.52 billion were imported between mid-July and mid-January.
In the five months from mid-July to mid-December, IT exports amounted to Rs 22.89 billion, showing a notable increase of Rs 5.16 billion in just one month.
NRB compiled this data based on the amounts received by individuals and companies exporting services from Nepal through banks and financial institutions.
For context, in FY 2023/24, the export of telecommunications, computer, and information services stood at Rs 1.554 billion. The figure was significantly higher in previous years, with Rs 15.80 billion recorded in FY 2022/23 and Rs 14.53 billion in FY 2021/22.
