May 22 : Finance and Communication Minister Yubaraj Khatiwada has said that Nepal is looking to resolve the boundary dispute with India through diplomatic means.
Talking to media personnel after a Cabinet meeting today, he said, ”The prime priority of the government is to leverage diplomatic channels to sort out such row.”
Khatiwada, who is the government spokesperson, also made it a clear that they do want to internationalise the issue at least for now. “Only if the diplomatic methods do not work, we will likely resort to other options as internationalising it.
The relations between Nepal and India grew cold earlier this month when the latter illicitly opened a link road encroaching the territory of the former. Such bilateral relations are become more hostile after Kathmandu earlier this week released its new political map depicting the disputed borders of Kalapani, Lipulekh and Limpiyadhura as its own.
