Remittance inflows to Nepal jumped by 35.6 percent in the first five months of the current fiscal year, according to data released by Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) on Friday.

The central bank reported that Nepal received Rs 870.31 billion in remittances between mid-July and mid-December of FY 2025/26. Of this amount, Rs 183.18 billion arrived in mid-November alone.

By comparison, remittance growth during the same period last year was just 4.7 percent, with Rs 118.79 billion received in mid-November of the previous fiscal year.

NRB data also indicate a slight decline in the number of Nepali workers securing final labor approval for foreign employment. In the first five months of this fiscal year, 175,591 individuals obtained final labor approval, while 163,924 renewed their work permits.

During the corresponding period last year, 190,384 workers had received final labor approval and 135,425 had renewed their permits, according to NRB figures.
