Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Monday decreased by 6.26 points to close at 2,012.07 points.

The market opened at 2,018.33 points and plunged to the day’s low at 2,007.15 points in the first one hour of trading. In the next moment, the index surged to as high as 2,019.69 points in the next one and a half hours. The market lost around seven points in the remaining period before it closed for the day.

The sensitive index that measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies fell 0.91 points. The daily turnover declined to Rs 2.87 billion from Rs 3.20 billion on Sunday.

Only hotels and tourism, and trading added 59.76 points and 5.51 points, respectively, to their market indices. Of the 11 losers, non-life insurance shed the highest of 42.20 points.

Among individual companies, only 86 were recorded as gainers whereas 151 were the losers.

Sarbottam Cement Limited had transactions of its shares worth Rs 472.91 million and led the segment of highest turnover. River Falls Power Limited lost the highest of 9.98 percent of its market price, while Gurans Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited was recorded as the topmost gainer.
