NEPSE Gains 26.55 Points, Offering Relief to Investors After Previous Decline

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) gained 26.55 points (0.97 percent) last week, providing a measure of optimism to investors following the continuous decline seen in the previous week.

The secondary market opened at 2,731.94 points and closed at 2,758.49 points. During the week, the market reached a high of 2,764.14 points and dropped to a low of 2,719.27 points, reflecting volatility of 44.87 points.

NEPSE declined on three trading days last week, with the steepest drop of 12.36 points recorded on Thursday. However, gains on Wednesday and Friday, when the index climbed 30.08 points and 16.38 points respectively, helped the market finish the week in positive territory.

Sector-wise, the hydropower group recorded the highest turnover at Rs 2.68 billion, followed by the manufacturing and processing sector with transactions worth Rs 421.43 million.

Despite the market improvement, the average daily turnover declined to Rs 3.54 billion from Rs 3.69 billion, marking a decrease of 4.07 percent.

Meanwhile, market capitalization increased to Rs 4.704 trillion from Rs 4.659 trillion, allowing investors to gain Rs 45 billion in book value. In the previous week, investors had suffered losses amounting to Rs 234 billi
