Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Sunday increased marginally by 8.26 points to close at 1,974.50 points.
The secondary market opened at 1,966.23 points and plunged to the day’s low at 1,962.59 points in the first half an hour of commencement of trading. The index subsequently increased and hit the day’s high at 1,981.76 points in the last one hour of the trading time. The market fell around seven points in the remaining period before the market closed for the day.
The sensitive index that measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies also inclined 0.21 points. The daily turnover slightly increased to Rs 3.15 billion from Rs 3.12 billion on Thursday.
Three groups including hotels and tourism, microfinance and finance were the losers of the day, while hotels and tourism posted the largest decline of 126.45 points. Of the 10 gainers, non-life insurance added the largest of 272 points in its market index.
Among individual companies, 127 were recorded as gainers whereas 111 were the losers.
Shangrila Development Bank Ltd had the largest turnover of its shares worth Rs 105.06 million. Shrijanshil Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited was the topmost gainer, while Manushi Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited lost the highest of 5.44 percent of its market price.
