The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index continued its downward trend for the third consecutive trading day this week. Last week, the index had experienced a continuous decline but saw a slight recovery on the final trading day. However, this week, the index has dropped every single day.
Today, the NEPSE index fell by 7.66 points, settling at 2,697.04. A total of 82,37,902 shares from 313 companies were traded 50,834 times, amounting to a total turnover of NPR 4.34 billion.
Among sectoral indices, the “Others” sub-index rose by 0.11 percent, while all other sectoral indices recorded losses. The banking sector declined by 0.14 percent, development banks by 0.42 percent, finance by 0.17 percent, hotels and tourism by 0.36 percent, hydropower by 0.17 percent, investment by 0.42 percent, and life insurance by 0.70 percent. Similarly, the manufacturing and processing sector fell by 0.23 percent, microfinance by 0.31 percent, mutual funds by 0.37 percent, non-life insurance by 0.54 percent, and the trading sector by 0.66 percent.
In terms of stock performance, Mithila Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd. saw the highest price increase, rising by 9.96 percent. On the other hand, Samudayik Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd. suffered the biggest decline, dropping by 8.21 percent.
Regarding trading volume, Himalayan Reinsurance Ltd. recorded the highest transaction amount, with shares worth NPR 3.21 billion changing hands. Meanwhile, Ghalemdi Hydro Ltd. had the highest number of shares traded, with 768,543 shares exchanged.
