On Sunday, the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) increased by 11.58 points, closing at 2,588.35. The market opened at 2,576.76 and briefly peaked at 2,643.38 within the first five minutes. However, it experienced a downturn throughout the trading day, hitting a low of 2,570.34 in the last 35 minutes before recovering around 18 points before closing.
The sensitive index, which tracks the performance of ‘A’ class companies, rose by 3.50 points. Daily turnover fell to Rs 5.09 billion from Rs 5.66 billion on Wednesday.
Out of 233 traded companies, 138 saw gains while 95 recorded losses. Among the sectors, five out of 13 groups experienced declines, with the hotels and tourism index suffering the most significant drop of 39.57 points. Conversely, the non-life insurance sector gained the most, adding 62.06 points to its index.
CEDB Hydropower Development Company Limited led in turnover, with shares valued at Rs 278.02 million. Eastern Hydropower Limited, Aatmanirbhar Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited, and Upper Syange Hydropower Limited were the top gainers, each increasing their market values by 10 percent. Rawa Energy Development Limited saw the largest decline, losing 8.65 percent of its market value.
