On Wednesday, the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) rose by 43.22 points, closing at 2,742.88 points. The market opened at 2,699.66 points, reaching a peak of 2,748.29 points within two and a half hours before losing around six points by the end of trading.
The sensitive index, which tracks ‘A’ class companies, increased by 7.68 points. Daily turnover surged to Rs 5.66 billion, up from Rs 3.06 billion the previous day.
Out of 241 traded companies, 206 saw gains while 35 recorded losses. All 13 sectors posted positive results, with life insurance and non-life insurance achieving impressive gains of 237.62 points and 180.03 points, respectively.
Nepal Finance Ltd had the highest share turnover at Rs 150.95 million. Vijaya Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited led with a 9.33 percent increase in market price, while Upper Syange Hydropower Limited topped the losers’ list with a 10 percent decline in its market value.
