Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Thursday declined by 7.31 points to close at 1,998.96 points.
The secondary market opened at 2,006.28 points and went into a downward graph since the beginning of the stocks trading. It hit the day’s low at 1,996.44 points before the last four minutes of trading. The market recovered around two points in the remaining period before it was closed for the day.
The sensitive index that measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies also decreased 1.48 points. The daily turnover declined to Rs 4.13 billion from Rs 4.80 billion on Tuesday. The government declared Wednesday a public holiday to mark Int’l Labor Day.
Two groups including microfinance and trading gained 139.13 points and 1.88 points, respectively. Of the 11 losers, non-life insurance shed the largest of 102.62 points.
Among individual companies, 78 were recorded as gainers whereas 161 were the losers.
IME Life Insurance Company Limited had the largest turnover of its shares worth Rs 287.75 million. People’s Power Limited, with a fall of 8.21 percent of its market value, was the biggest loser. Samata Gharelu Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited gained the highest of 10 percent of its market price.
