NEPSE witnesses three-digit landslides

Share market has witnessed a significant fall on Tuesday. The benchmark of the stock market, NEPSE, has recorded a three-digit fall of 111.96 points on Monday.

With significant fall in share market, the index has dropped to 2,782.60 points. The index had crossed 3,000 points on August 15, 2024. The index decreased by 79.88 points on Sunday. There was no transaction of share on Monday due to public holiday.

The sensitive index which measures the performance of group ‘A’ companies decreased by 22.87 points to close at 496.47 points. With the significant fall in NEPSE, the transaction amount has also decreased.

A total of 43,868,970 shares worth Rs. 18.64 billion of 330 companies were bought and sold in 234,360 transactions today. 

On Sunday, shares worth Rs. 19.74 billion of 333 companies had been bought and sold in 218,578 transactions. The sub-indices of all groups, except hotels and tourism, decreased in today’s transaction.

Sub-index of the life insurance group saw the highest fall of 524.50 points followed by the non-life insurance and development bank group whose indices decreased by 339.43 points and 242.30 points respectively.

Similarly, sub-index of manufacturing and processing group dropped by 222.69 points, finance by 180.12 points, microfinance by 161.20 points, hydropower by 140.55 points and trading by 86.20 points. 

The sub-index of banking decreased by 81.46 points, others by 84.71 points, investment by 4.80 points and mutual fund by 0.24 points. However, the sub-index of hotels and tourism increased by 31.51 points. 

When the share price of 223 companies decreased, 20 companies increased in today’s transaction. Share price of Nepal Finance decreased by 10 per cent, Ridi Power Company by 8.58 per cent and National Hydropower Company by 7.67 per cent.

However, share prices of three companies, including Taragaon Regency Hotel, Aatmanirbhar Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha and Dolti Power Company have increased by 10 per cent.
