October 18 : The Nepal Telecom Corporation (NTC) has installed a very small aperture terminal (VSAT) in Simkot, the district headquarters of Humla. The VSAT installation is meant to facilitate the residents of the district who could not enjoy telephone service especially during the winter, said NTC, Humla chief Shiva Prasad Bhattarai.
The radio link faces technical glitches due to the snowfall in this season in the district, thus disrupting the telephone service.
The newly installed VSAT would be useful for enabling the district dwellers to get connected in the winter season , added Bhattarai.
