More than 1,000 containers have been stranded in Tatopani after a landslide on Shrawan 18 blocked the road at Ekoma, Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality–2, Sindhupalchok.
Due to the obstruction, goods imported for the upcoming Dashain and Tihar festivals have not been transported to Kathmandu. According to Rajendra Prasad Chudal, Chief of the Tatopani Customs Office, the containers are stuck in the Tatopani area (Chinese territory) after the road closure.
He stated that efforts are underway to reopen the road, but the situation remains very critical.
Ram Hari Karki, President of the Himalaya Transborder Trade Association, also confirmed that over 1,000 containers are stranded in Tatopani. He added, “The goods were imported targeting Dashain and Tihar. The landslide, stretching about 30 meters at the Tatopani border point, has caused the obstruction.”
