An additional 172,195 individuals and institutions registered as taxpayers in the first three months of the current fiscal year (FY).
According to the Ministry of Finance (MoF), these taxpayers obtained new permanent account numbers (PAN) between mid-July and mid-October. Among them, 143,744 are individual taxpayers, 27,953 are commercial taxpayers, and 495 are organizations.
With the latest registrations, Nepal now has more than 7.171 million PAN holders. Of this total, 2,088,711 fall under the commercial category, while 5,046,466 are personal taxpayers.
During the same period, 6,770 firms registered for value added tax (VAT), and 3,012 registered for excise duty. This brings the total number of VAT-registered taxpayers to 358,505 and excise-registered taxpayers to 128,009.
