May 19: The Public Account Committee (PAC) under the House of Representatives has ordered the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) to recover around Rs 2 billion arrears from its subordinate bodies.
The PAC meeting on Sunday took a decision in this regard. Operational and non-operational national and international airlines companies under the Tribhuvan International Airport, government offices and various private chambers have yet to pay over Rs 1.9 billion arrears, said the CAAN. International Airlines Company is yet to pay arrears of around Rs 810 million, while operational national airlines company Rs 40 million arrears.
Likewise, non-operational airlines company has yet to clear arrears of Rs 40 million, and non-operational national airlines company arrears of Rs 80 million. Government offices have yet to pay Rs 550 million arrears and operational and non-operational chambers arrears of Rs 400 million, said CAAN’s Director General Sanjib Gautam. Of arrears of over Rs 2.5 billion to be paid, the CAAN recovered Rs 560 million arrears until mid-May, he said. RSS
