Kathmandu, September 23 : The Development and Technical Committee under the legislative parliament has directed the government to implement the clean feed policy within October 24.
In its recent meet in the capital, the committee instructed the government to do so after forming the proposed advertising board on October 23 as per the Advertisement (Regulation) Act-2019.
After the very policy comes into effect, the foreign television channels being aired in the Nepal will not allowed to broadcast the advertisings of foreign brands. Many countries around the world have already been regulating and monitoring foreign channels and commercials.
The effective implementation of clean feed is also expected to help the Rs 10 billion domestic advertising industry to grow by almost double in two ways “First, it will encourage the domestic advertisers to invest more to produce more commercials to fill the slots in the foreign channels with clean feeds. Second, this will prompt the international brands to air their commercials on Nepali channels,” says Nirmal Raj Poudel , Chairman, Welcome Advertising and Marketing Pvt Ltd.
Additionally, Poudel, who is also a past president of the Advertising Association of Nepal (AAN), urges all the concerned stakeholders to come together to leverage the idea of clean feed not for the growth of the advertising sector but also for the betterment of the Nepali media sector as a whole.
