Kathmandu, July 17 : Tourism entrepreneurs have demanded the government allow the resumption of domestic flights from August 1 and international flights from August 15.
Issuing a joint press statement on Thursday (July 16), they came up with such a demand. The air services in the country have come to a grinding halt since the imposition of the national lockdown on March 24 to stem the COVOD-19 pandemic.
According to the entrepreneurs, the resumption of such services is simply vital to revive the country’s tourism sector hard hit by the pandemic. Although the government eased such lockdown from June 10, most of the tourism outlets such as hotels, resorts, home stays, flights and transport means are still completely shut down.
As per the release, the coronavirus crisis has put not only the employment of millions of people at risk but also jeopardised the billions of rupees of investment made in the sector.
Apart from the domestic and international flights, the tourism entrepreneurs also want the government to allow the operation of other tourism related services by adopting the required health safety measures.
