May 30 : The government is including the Tamor Reservoir Project as a national pride project. Finance Minister Dr Yuba Raj Khatiwada said this while presenting the budget for the coming fiscal year in the joint session of the Federal Parliament on Wednesday (May 29).
He said the Upper Tamakoshi Hydroelectricity Project would be completed within the next fiscal year and projects of total 1,000 megawatts capacity including Rasuwagadhi and Sanjen would have been completed by next fiscal year. Similarly, the process has been forwarded for the construction of projects such as West Seti, Dudhkosi, Nalgadh by preparing an appropriate model. Similarly, budget has been allocated to the Budhigandaki Hydroelectricity Project, a national pride project, in the next fiscal year as well.
Finance Minister Dr Khatiwada stated that Rs 83.49 billion has been allocated to the energy sector in the budget for the next fiscal year. The government has also stated that 21 projects would be developed with investment from citizens to produce 3,500 megawatts power. Similarly, the government has planned to develop one project with investment from employees.
The government has the goal of moving ahead the implementation of big projects through the public-private partnership. Special efforts would be undertaken for the domestic consumption of electricity.
The SAG is taking place from coming December 1 to 10 in Kathmandu and Pokhara. Likewise, programmes shall be organised for training and capacity building of the athletes in federal, state and local levels.
